Pilates is a form of exercise that improves core strength, flexibility, posture, injury prevention and also mental awareness. The Malvern East Physiotherapy team offers Clinical Pilates with an individually tailored and goal-orientated approach.

Clinical Pilates is designed to increase muscle strength and flexibility in order to correct muscle imbalances, restore alignment, while also helping to improve posture. Joints are stabilised by the smaller, deeper muscles that sit closest to them. These muscles are often weakened by lifestyle factors such as sitting for prolonged periods or leaning over a computer.  This can result in muscle imbalances between the deep and superficial muscles, which can lead to further problems. Clinical Pilates works to strengthen these muscles, which in return improves posture and helps to prevent further injuries.

We currently have a very extensive Clinical Pilates timetable, offering more than 30 sessions per week, which is more than most gyms. Sessions are available individually or in small groups up to 4 people, and we have classes specifically for adolescents and men – Manlates. All of our sessions are run by our qualified and highly trained physiotherapists.

Our Clinical Pilates classes are equipment based using spring-loaded resistance equipment including the Reformer and Trapeze Table. These are easy to use and very safe for everyone. Our physiotherapists stay up to date with the latest Pilates equipment, technology and training.

Get started by booking a consultation with one of our physios who will help develop a Pilates program specific to you and your history, fitness levels, goals and needs.

Your initial assessment is a perfect opportunity to identify goals and any areas of focus that you would like to address.

During your assessment, your physiotherapist will complete a thorough full body assessment.  Together, you will develop a pilates plan and begin to develop a program of exercises to reach your goals.  Your physiotherapist will even provide a range of simple exercises you can continue at home to fast-track your progress.

We recommend bringing along a small towel, drink bottle and a pair of socks.  We supply all pilates and gym equipment for use during your pilates session.  Whilst we have a small space for storage of personal belongings, we recommend leaving larger bags at home.
